Team Roberts, who are competing in the 2007 MotoGP Championship, and sponsored by Motorpoint, the UK’s largest car supermarket, will be racing on home soil this weekend at the Donington Park race circuit, in the Nickel and Dime British Grand Prix on 24 June, 2007.

In what has been a highly competitive start to the season, the Oxfordshire-based Team Roberts, who topped the practice sheets in Jerez earlier this year, will be fielding Kurtis Roberts, the younger brother of former World Champion American Kenny Roberts Jr, in a bid to take the chequered flag at their domestic race. He brings to the team a wealth of experience, which has included two AMA Formula Extreme titles and the 600cc National Championship in 2000, and competed in his first race on the Motorpoint-liveried 2007 KR212V bike, at the beginning of June in Mugello, Italy.

Encouraged by the team’s prospects, Gary Warren, Managing Director of Motorpoint explains: “Our relationship with Team Roberts continues to go from strength to strength, and a highly-talented and acclaimed rider, such as Kurtis Roberts, will allow the team to continue to build on its long list of achievements. It is great that the racing is back in the UK where Motorpoint has equally enjoyed success, becoming the country’s largest car supermarket with five sites across the country.”

In conjunction with this weekend’s race, Motorpoint are giving away a brand new high performance Honda 600 Fireblade, which will be presented to the winner at the end of the MotoGP season.

Qualifying at Donington Park starts at 13:50 on Saturday, 23 June 07, and the race starts at 13:00 on Sunday, 24 June 07.
