Krystal Racing Space Air head to Thruxton this weekend, determined to bring home a haul of points in Round Two of the 2007 Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship. Just four days on since the first race of the year at Brands Hatch, team riders Lee Jackson (22) and Paul Veazey (33) are both gunning for better results as the championship hits the fast 2.356mile Hampshire circuit.
Jackson, who crossed the line seventh last weekend has his eyes firmly fixed on a podium finish on Sunday. The 32-year-old from Lincoln said: "I'm definitely looking at top three this time out, I won't be happy with another seventh. I want to be on the box and there is no real reason why I shouldn't be.
"We've got a very strong field in Superstock this year but none of them are unbeatable. I need to get a better qualifier than I had at Brands and need to ensure I get a good start, and hopefully I'll be standing on the podium come race end."
Veazey meanwhile is determined to have a better race than last week. The 20-year-old from Middlesbrough, still new to the Yamaha R1, is looking at a top ten finish - but admits he'd be happy with top 15. "I think finishing 22nd last week has just fired me up even more to go out there and get a top ten this weekend," he said. "To be honest, I'd happily settle for top 15 and a couple of points, but I'm setting my sights on being up at the front end of the pack.
"I want to make sure I qualify higher up this time so I can get a chance to race nearer the front. It is a tough grid out there this year and I know it isn't going to be easy, but we've had a look at where we went wrong at Brands and will be going all out to improve on it on Sunday."
Team owner Tony Astle believes his riders can both score well this weekend. "We've all had a few days to relax since Brands and I think we're all just itching to get back out and try again," he said.
"Both of the lads know what they needed to work on after Brands and we're hopeful we have sorted out all of the teething troubles from last week. Now it's about moving on, going out there and doing the best they possibly can. Both know what they need to do and I'm confident we can come home with a nice collection of points."
Meanwhile Gary Jackson is expecting to have his Newell Plumbing Krystal Racing Yamaha rebuilt and ready for the Superstock Cup event. His machine blew up in first practice at Brands Hatch, forcing him to use his brother Lee's spare bike. He is hoping to have his own bike ready in time to qualify for this weekend's round.
