Fabien Foret (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) rode his heart out to finish sixth at Brands Hatch having to fight his way forward from 12th place on the grid, and 13th place after the first lap. His team-mate Pere Riba (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) ended his Brands Hatch race weekend 11th, unable to match his love for the track layout with his machine set-up on raceday. The race was run in warm track conditions, of 44°C, and in ambient air temperatures approaching 30°C, making it hot and hard work around the spectacularly undulating 3.702km circuit. Foret found it tough to get forward motion due to a lack of traction, but made up ground to finish ten seconds from the win.
Fabien Foret: “The start was so-so and that made it very difficult for me to overtake on this track and we had a lot of traction problems. I was riding with other guys and they did not slide as much as me. I wanted to fight for a podium here but we will have to fight for that at the next race. My main rival for second blew up so we went further ahead in the battle for overall second, which is a good thing.”
Pere Riba:
“When you see the finishing position we had today, both Fabien and myself, then you can see the situation. I wanted to be competitive here, but it was not to be.”
