The 20 year old Ballyclare rider has been give a promoter’s option ‘wild-card’ ticket to ride in the Nickel and Dime British Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Leicestershire circuit over the weekend of 22-23-24 June. He will be riding for Team Roberts, aboard a Honda powered KR212, alongside the Team Patron Kenny Roberts’ eldest son, former World Champion Kenny junior.
Rea has impressed this year, settling quickly to riding the factory backed HM Plant Honda in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, narrowly missing out on victories on several occasions, to be placed third in the overall rankings.
He is currently in Japan where, together with his team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari, he is preparing for the Suzuki Eight Hours race, and also competing in the Suzuka 300kms race, prior to returning to race in the sixth round of the British championship at Mondello Park the week before his Grand Prix appearance.
