The Magura Supermoto brake system is winning praise from (and points for) Lee Jones, who is competing on a 650 Husaberg in the ACU and MRO MotoGB British Supermoto championships. Jones, who rides for Husaberg importer Dave Clarke Racing, is in 6th position overall in the MRO championship after the first round and is also in 6th place overall (SM1) after four rounds of the AMCA ACU British Supermoto championship, competing against top class racers including Christian Iddon, Ady Smith and Matt Winstanley. However, he was experiencing problems with the standard Husaberg brake set-up;
“I would start to get brake fade halfway through the race which would increase my lap times and cause me to brake earlier”.
These were cured once the new Magura brake system was fitted;
“There is no brake fade like I experienced with a standard Husaberg set up, I can now brake later with more confidence and feel. It has improved my lap times and allows me to pass easier on the brakes going into corners”.
Manufactured with a solid one-piece forged calliper, there is minimal flex under braking compared to a split version. The four-pot calliper, with one pad per piston, gives superb feel and the radial master cylinder with angled forged body is easy to fit behind hand guards. The fork ends are designed to attach to the standard forks on the Husaberg and versions are also produced to fit the KTM, Honda CRF450R and Husqvarna.
The MAGURA Supermoto Radial Brake Kit includes radial pump, braided hose, four-pot calliper, fork ends and 320mm disc and sells for £764 inc. VAT.
