Yamaha are heading to the Isle of Man TT Centenary with every intention of helping to make it the best ever TT for the island’s anticipated 70,000 plus visitors. The manufacturer that brought you the awesome YZF-R1 as well as the 2006 MCN Machine of the Year, the YZF-R6, has collaborated with Ramsey’s Town Commissioners to highlight the fact that Ramsey has much to offer the TT visitor. To highlight the close relationship between the town and Yamaha, the Commissioners have agreed to rename the town ‘Yamsey’ for TT fortnight! This includes changing all road signs which greet visitors to the town.
Yamaha diary of events include:• Tuesday 5th June – Yamaha are supporting The ‘Yamsey’ Sprint, the biggest single event outside of the races themselves. 20,000 plus fans are expected to attend the event which will also see a display by The Red Arrows. The Yamaha promotional truck will be in attendance offering product information and displays
• Barry Johnson’s Off Road Experience for test rides on Yamaha’s off-road machines at the BMX park alongside Yamsey rugby pitch 6th – 9th June
• Flying Gunners display using Yamaha WR250F machines show on 3rd,4th and 5th June, two displays each day at Yamsey rugby pitch
• Yamaha/Arai/Radio TT Treasure Hunt – Yamaha and Arai are giving away a £500 Arai Corsair race rep every day (Haga and Edwards designs), between 1st and 8th June. 35 retailers in Yamsey town centre are taking part in the Treasure Hunt and can be identified by Yamaha/Arai/Radio TT stickers in their store windows. Race fans should visit at least 8 of these participating shops and obtain an official stamp on their entry form, from the staff there – one of the stamps must be obtained from the Yamaha accessory shop at 71 Parliament Street, Yamsey. Entry forms are available from participating retailers as well as Yamsey Town Hall, Yamaha promotional truck, Yamsey Sprint, Yamaha Off Road Experience and Yamaha/Arai night at Bushey’s on Wednesday evening

• Yamaha Classic Racing Team (YCRT) display in Yamsey Town Hall 4th-8th June. 16 classic Yamaha racing motorcycles (worth 1 million Euros) will be on the island. 4 of these classic race bikes will be on show at Ramsey Town Hall at any one time. Former Yamaha race stars including Rodney Gould, Chas Mortimer, Dieter Braun and Michelle Duff amongst others, who will make appearances at Yamsey Town hall on Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th during the day
• Yamaha/Arai Night at Bushey’s on Wednesday 6th June (6-9pm) – stars in conversation and prizes galore. Troy Corser, Steve Parrish, Steve Plater, Rob McElnea (accurate at time of press)
• Yamaha presents a ‘Slow riding competition’ on TTR125s at the rugby pitch, Yamsey, all race week – fun prizes to be had by all
• Road and Track, Tynwald Street, Douglas (Yamaha dealer) – Thursday 7th June from 2pm – WSB star and double Misano double race winner, Nori Haga in attendance to sign autographs
• Win a Yamaha R6 in support of the Isle of Man Scouts – buy tickets from various sites around the island including Yamaha’s promotional truck. Draw to be held on Friday 8th June at the TT Grandstand at 10:00am. Winning ticket to be drawn by Nori Haga
• Parade of Champions (Friday 8th) – Haga to ride a Yamaha R7. Start time 13:45
