After a difficult German weekend, during which he had to defy the pain barrier because of a nasty ankle injury, to take fifth, Xavier Siméon is now fully recovered and ready to take on his adversaries on their own turf. The Superstock 1000 armada travels to the Italian racetrack of Vallelunga for the tenth round of the championship, with five riders within a 25-point victory of the top spot! But unlike many of his colleagues, who also happen to be his closest rivals in the overall standings, it will be Xavi’s first time at the racetrack located near Rome and considered by many fans of his team-mate Max Biaggi as “the Roman Emperor’s den”. Nevertheless, now that his ankle problems are just a bad memory, Francis Batta’s protégé knows he can attack the penultimate round of this exciting FIM Superstock Championship in top mental and physical condition.
Xavier Siméon “This season, I’m riding on a ‘race by race’ basis, so my goal remains the same: do my best without feeling pressurised because of my second place in the championship. At the start of the season, my objective was to finish in the top 5. So anything else is a bonus. Once more, I will be aiming for a podium spot. Vallelunga is a new track for me, but so was Misano - as we were riding it the other way round this year. Despite the fact that many Italians have tested there before, this did not prevent me from finishing second. That kind of thing really stimulates me!”
