After the disappointment of a DNF at Knockhill the TABOO Motorsport team are back on a high with rider/team manager Michael Hill finishing in fourteenth place securing those much sought after championship points at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
A steady qualifying saw Hill put his machine into twenty first place on the grid, as he said, “I managed to move up seven places to twentieth in second qualifying - six places better than when I scored fourteenth place last time round so I felt I was on for a good race.”
Once the race got underway, Hill stayed out of trouble and gradually made his way forward through the pack, picking off riders with ease. He ended up in the group that was battling for twelfth place, exactly where he had been at Knockhill until his chain broke. This time there were no mechanical failures and he was pleased with the result.
“It was good to put the problems of the last two rounds behind me,” said Hill, “In this race I wanted points not only to give me confidence ahead of Croft which is my home race, but also for one of my sponsors who had a bereavement in the week.”
Buoyed up by their points tally, Michael and his TABOO Motorsport team are preparing for their home race at Croft in three weeks time, 11th -13th August.
The 125cc British Championship is now televised on the Sky Sports network of channels on the same day as the event as well a being repeated throughout the course of the following week.
