Ryuichi Kiyonari jets back from holiday fully refreshed to power into the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on Sunday 23 September at Donington Park.
The HM Plant Honda rider returned home to Japan after the recent races at Cadwell Park having taken a brace of second placings there to move nearer to retaining the crown he won for the first time last year.
He knows a winning double at the Leicestershire grand prix circuit will be just champion, giving him an unassailable lead in the title stakes.
Kiyonari has won nine races so far in another dominant campaign and that has powered him 41 points clear of his team-mate Jonathan Rea who has to get ahead of him to have any chance of wresting the title away.
Rea, who has confirmed that he will be moving on to the World Supersport series next year, has tasted the victor’s champagne five times, and with no team orders will be gunning for glory to stay in contention.
They face their own private duel for supremacy but aiming to get ahead of both of them is the local favourite Leon Haslam, riding the Airwaves Ducati, who still has a mathematical chance of taking the title.
