Regis Laconi just missed the podium of the second race at the World Superbike round at the always crowded Brands Hatch race track. His Brittish colleague Walker finished as seventh in race one and eight in race two.
Due to the two top 10 finishes of Chris Walker, the PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse rider is now ninth overall in the World Superbike Championship standings. Regis Laconi is 14th overall and Spanish rider Fonsi Nieto finds himself at place 12 after a disappointing race weekend at Brands Hatch.
Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) had a difficult weekend all in, scoring 14th in race one after some physical on track battles. He retired after running off track and possibly damaging his tyres as he drove out of the gravel at Sheene Curve in race two.
Regis Laconi: 9th & 4th - 72 Points, 14th Overall: “I'm happy because I knew we could get a result like race two all weekend. We were very close to the podium. I tried some new settings in race one, but we went back to our warm-up setting for race two, and it worked well. The bike was easy to ride and this is the first time I have been able to go fast right to the last lap. I am so happy to be able to ride like that, on a hard rear tyre. I just made a little mistake earlier on and lost the gap to Pitt and then could not make it up.”
Chris Walker: 7th & 8th - 96 Points, 9th Overall:“I was happy to be the top finisher in the team in race one. I just needed another lap to get to Corser. My back brake went on the line so that made race two hard, because I normally use the back brake a lot round here.”
Fonsi Nieto: 14th & DNF - 83 Points, 12th Overall:“Race one was a very big fight with lots of riders, especially Regis and Tommy Hill. In race two I just ran into the gravel while fighting with Hill again because my rear was losing some grip. When I got back to the pits the rear was ripped up a bit, maybe because I had to wheelspin it out of the gravel.”
