Motorcycle racing legend Giacomo Agostini is to visit Stafford in the new year.
The Italian multi-world champion Grand Prix motorcycle racer has been confirmed as the official guest of honour at the 28th International Classic Motorcycle Show at the County Showground.
The event is being held over the weekend of April 26 and 27.
‘Ago’ is the all-time record holder for victories in motorcycle GP history, winning 122 Grand Prix and 15 World Championship titles in his career, riding MV Agusta and Yamaha machines. He retired from top level racing in 1977.
Agostini will be formally opening the show at 10.30am on the Saturday 26 and during the weekend he will be giving talks based around his racing history. The usual weekend attendance of around 30,000 is expected to be exceeded after an enormous flurry of pre-booked sales since Agostini’s appearance was confirmed.
Another highlight is the confirmed attendance of Grand Prix ace and former World Champion Kork Ballington.
Show manager Nick Mowbray said: “Having two racing legends like Ago and Kork attending our show is unbelievable and already we have seen our ticket sales soar since their names have been announced. The only problem I can see will be keeping the females on the team focused on their jobs.”
