The second round of the 2007 British 125cc Championship was held yesterday at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire. With the crowds in excess of 30,000 and the temperature will into the 20’s Michael Hill battled his TABOO Motorsport / Banks Racing Honda to superb 10th position. Having finished 19th in the season’s opening event the previous week, 25 year old Michael was optimistic about his chances after the first practice session held on Friday.

“Brands isn’t one of my favourite circuits, but I lapped a lot faster than last year and we made some good progress in terms of suspension. I was a little disappointed not to come away from Brands with at least a point but I knew when we got to the tracks that I liked we could have a half decent result” he exclaimed.

After making another good start Hill found himself in a 3 way battle for 8th. After making a small mistake mid race the best he could hope for was 10th and after posting his personal fastest lap on lap 14 of the 16 lap race overtook Alec Wright to take a well deserved top ten finish at the flag.

“This whole weekend has been great for me. I have achieved my best ever qualifying position, and best ever British Championship dry race finish so I am well pleased.

Pete Banks has helped out even more this weekend as my regular crew couldn’t be here so a big thanks yet again to him, not only for the extra help but for providing me with a bike capable of running in the top ten and also for giving me the chance last year to work with him. Alan Green has also been brilliant, he almost won the championship a few years ago and the advice that he is giving me is also fantastic. A big thanks of course to everyone who is supporting me this year I wouldn’t be even on the grid without you. Finally I’d like to say a big thank you to Colin who travels with Timmy Hastings for being on hand and doing my pit board all weekend and a big well done to Timmy for finishing 4th in the cup and scoring a main championship point in 15th. Roll on Silverstone” commented a jubilant Hill.

The tenth place finish moves Michael to equal 14th in the British Championship with the next round of the series taking place on the 29th April at Silverstone in Northamptonshire.

Michael and the team are still looking for additional financial support to allow them to further progress up the championship standings. Anyone interested in supporting Michael and TABOO Motorsport for the remainder of 2007 please contact michael@michaelhillracing.com or telephone 07837 937341.
