The Isle of Man TT Races, the legendary motorcycle racing event which celebrates its centenary this year, is launching an all-new website. The site, which went live yesterday, has been completely overhauled to provide a one-stop shop for the race’s huge army of fans across the globe. As well as providing visitors with all the latest news (including interviews with riders and features on the Centennial celebrations) surrounding the event, the website offers an in-depth database of statistics on historic results, riders, machines, lap times and a wealth of further stats even going back to the inaugural race in 1907 to satisfy TT’s passionate race enthusiasts.

All of the information needed for this year’s event, to be held from 26th May to 8th June, is available at the touch of a button with a racing calendar providing a list of daily activities over the fortnight.

This year’s event will be the most popular for many years with close to 20,000 motorbikes booked on to ferries and between 50,000 and 60,000 visitors expected to descend on the Island to enjoy the racing.

It will be possible to buy TT Grandstand tickets, car and bike parking and be a part of the official VIP hospitality for this year’s event on the site, which can be found at www.iomtt.com.

The site attracts a very high number of viewers throughout the year and peaks during the build up to the Races and the TT fortnight itself:

• Total Sessions - 1,000,000
• Total page views - 9,000,000
• Ave daily sessions - 4,830
• Peak daily sessions - 24,000
• Ave session length - 11 minutes
• Ave daily page views - 40,745
• Ave page views p/ses - 8.44

The popular ‘TT Forum’ has also been revamped, detailing general information, accommodation and camping news.

A number of further features will be made available online before the TT kicks off in May. Capitalising on the license agreements that have been established recently, an official ‘TT Shop’ will allow official merchandise, including clothing and books, to be purchased for the first time.

For those users who perhaps cannot make it to watch the Races for themselves a subscription service ‘TT Live’ will also give members in-depth information over the duration of the TT and includes live timings and commentary from Manx Radio’s extensive coverage of the event, together with images from races and presentations.

There is also a plan to allow riders to include their own experiences of the Centenary event by posting their blogs on the site which will give users an insight in to this unique event.

Paul Phillips, TT & Motorsport Development Manager, said:

“We are delighted to be able to provide such a significant resource to fans, riders, teams and our sponsors. IOMTT.com has always been popular with fans but now the additional content together with the fresh, user friendly design will we hope, draw more people to the site. The new ‘TT Live’ section will appeal to those who aren’t able to make it to the Island this year.”

The TT race is run on public roads and is the oldest motor-cycle racing circuit still in use. Traditionally held in the last week of May and the first week of June, each lap measures 37 3/4 miles (60.7 km) and takes in over 200 bends while climbing from sea level to an altitude of over 1,300 ft (396 m).
