The World of BMW’s brand new Road Skills courses for 2007 have proved such a hit since bookings began in October 2006 that it has been necessary for BMW Rider Training to extend the calendar. The new BMW Road Skills courses take the place of last year’s ‘Advanced’ and ‘Refresher’ courses and consist of three separate levels of training. This means that every rider from beginner to RoSPA level can find a level to suit them.
The current dates start in April and continue right through to October but to address the increased demand of riders keen to improve their abilities, the BMW Rider Training facility will hold an additional Level 2 course on 23-25 April. This spring date is perfect for those motorcyclists keen to make sure their riding skills are as sharp as possible in preparation for the forthcoming riding season.
The BMW Road Skills Level 2 course aims to teach riders a large variety of new skills and works on eliminating any bad habits that may have been picked up along the way. Topics include slow speed manoeuvring, cornering and observation, and planning.
The World of BMW Road Skills Level 2 course costs £589 (£829 with the hire of a BMW motorcycle), which includes three full days tuition in groups of no more than four participants. One For The LadiesThe success of the World of BMW Off-Road Skills courses has continued apace, just as expected in 2007. Many of the 2007 dates are booked up already before the course has even begun.
As in 2006 the World of BMW has included some courses in its programme especially reserved for the ‘fairer sex’. Many women find it easier to learn in the absence of testosterone-fuelled men and the majority of the ladies who attended the course in 2006 found that the ‘women only’ format was certainly a lot more relaxed than the mixed courses.
There are two Level One ladies only courses, which will be held on the 29-30 April and 9-10 July at the fabulous Walters Arena Enduro Park in the Brecon Beacons. During the two-day course, participants will learn all the skills necessary to take a motorcycle off-road and ride it with confidence. The skills of how to handle a motorcycle in tricky situations taught at the BMW Off-Road School also improve riding once back on the tarmac as well. The course fee of £395 includes the use of a BMW motorcycle and this year there will be a choice of three machines: the F 650 GS, R1200 GS and all-new G 650 Xchallenge enduro bike.
