Fabien Foret (Gil Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) ended his WSS season in third place in the championship, despite suffering a DNF at Magny-Cours. The 2002 World Champion started the race from fifth place, but had to pull in on lap 13 ending his race due to an electrical problem that affected the performance of his engine.
Pere Riba (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) was another non-finisher, having to park his bike out on track after it stopped on lap five.
After a hard final weekend for each rider, Foret ended up with a total of 128 points, Riba 19th in the classification, with 37 points.
Fabien Foret:
“Well, that’s racing, and there was nothing else we could do. We tried really hard all year, the bike was very good sometimes, and we won a race when we had the opportunity in Australia, after setting pole. I really wanted to finish second in the championship, but there was nothing I could really do when we stopped. To take a new bike into the top three in such a competitive season is not bad, and we all worked hard to make it the best we could.”
Pere Riba:
“I really wanted to finish this year with a good result, but there was nothing we could do about the bike having a problem. It has been a difficult year for me personally sometimes, but I have taken pole at Donington, so there has been something to hold on to. We worked a lot in 2007, all of us, so we know that we did our best.”
