The Italian rider got the second position in the first Supermoto GP's round. And this is just the beginning. The 2006 Supermoto World Championship saw its start on the fast Castelletto di Branduzzo track, near Pavia (Italy). The numerous public could see who will play the main roles in this new season. One of them is Ivan Lazzarini. Ivan arrived at the track very focused on the race and in a perfect shape.
During the time session of Saturday, Ivan was really fast and got the pole, leaving behind his back his teammate Gerald Delepine. On Sunday morning, Ivan got the superpole which allowed him to start on the first position in the grid and ended race 1 and race 2 on the second position. Lazzarini declared at the end of the race.
"I'm satisfied with this first race and my results. After the Saturday practices I was expecting more, as I was ahead of Bernd Hiemer thanks to those seconds I gained on the dirt part. Unfortunately, today the organization decided to close the offroad as it was too wet, so I did not succeeded in beating him. Anyway, the season has just begun and I'm really confident about the future".
Bad luck for Delepine, who was involved in a fall in race 1. In race 2, the Belgian rider closed his race on third position, but that did not made him step on the podium. In the S2 class, Davide Gozzini made two bad start in both races and was forced for the whole day to recover from the back lines, but without getting further than the 10th place. Still in this class, the Chareyre brothers did not want to run any risks, specially Thomas (the younger) who remained on the 15th and 12th place, while Adrien, 2005 second placed, closed the day on 7th place.
