British scooter owners can now colour co-ordinate their machines from the ground up with coloured tyres! Until now, scooter tyres had been available in any colour you want, so long as it’s black. Tomahawk, the UK’s pioneering re-manufacturer of radial motorcycle tyres, decided to import the revolutionary range of coloured scooter tyres to complement their British-made coloured motorcycle tyres.
Although the colours give these tyres a novel appearance, in all other respects they are fully functional sports profile scooter tyres. They are manufactured in an ISO 9002 registered plant in the same way as regular tyres. The inner tyre carcass is black rubber, then coloured rubber compound is wound on, before the tyre is vulcanised in a mould, which impresses the tread pattern into the rubber. These tyres are E-marked to comply with ECE Regulation 30, making them legal for road use and carry a speed rating of “P”, comparable with most major brands of scooter tyre. This marking denotes the maximum speed for which the tyre is rated - for vehicles not exceeding 150 kph (94 mph) in the case of “P” which is more than adequate for scooters up to 125cc. Riders can expect similar levels of grip and wear to regular black ‘hoops’.
Initially three colours will be available in the UK, in the most popular sizes for 12” and 13” size wheels.
120/70ZR12 - £46.79 inc. VAT (orange and yellow)
130/70ZR12 - £52.48 inc. VAT (red only)
