Racers competing in the AMA Supermoto Championship presented by Parts Unlimited will have the opportunity to earn a share of the million–plus dollar bonus awards available in all three classes of the 2006 series. Motorcycle manufacturers lead the way with generous award programs. Honda, Husqvarna, KTM, and Yamaha are all supporting the series with bonus money. Each of the participating manufacturers rewards the top-10 finishers in the premier Supermoto class as well as Supermoto Lites. In addition KTM and Husqvarna also support the Supermoto Unlimited class.
“We’re pleased to have these bonus programs continue,” said Todd Eagan, AMA Supermoto Series Manager. “This money goes directly to the racers and these programs help foster growth in the sport.”
Tire companies are also big backers with Maxxis, Michelin and Pirelli paying bonus money to top finishers. LeoVince USA is paying bonuses to riders sporting the company’s X3 Exhaust system. New for this year is the Racer X Gas Card, long popular in Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series, will go to the first non-qualifying rider in each of the three classes.
The AMA Supermoto Championship kicks off this Saturday, April 29, at California Speedway in Fontana and concludes in Long Beach, Calif., in November.
