The Lambretta Museum, run by scooter enthusiast Nigel Cox and based in Weston-Super-Mare, looks set to close after Cox has announced he intends to sell most of his Lambretta collection.

The museum, which does not charge visitors, is funded by its shop, Weston Scooter Parts. Cox's scooter collection is estimated at £500,000, but after announcing plans to retire, he is looking to sell it to an enthusiast for around £350,000.

But Cox intends to hang onto some of his rare Lammys, including the last scooter off the line at the old Innocenti factory in Italy. The local council have already stated that they are not interested in buying the Lambretta collection to establish the musuem as a tourist attraction.
