Motorbike Racing Legend Experience At Rockingham
Perfect for bike owners and enthusiasts, The Steve Parrish Rockingham Bike Experience offers riders of all abilities and ages the chance to enjoy an evening with the three times British Motorbike Champion before taking to the track for a full day of riding.
The first event is being held on Sunday June 23, but the whole unique experience starts the evening before when riders will be able to drop off their bikes in a secure garage and sign on ready for the next day's activities.
Once the paperwork has been completed, it is time to sit back and relax with Steve and his guest instructors – former World Endurance Champion Terry Rymer and double World Superbike Champion Troy Corser – enjoying a two-course meal while listening to their anecdotes from their motor racing careers.
Should participants choose to stay locally at one of Rockingham’s partner hotels before returning to the circuit the following day to enjoy the track activities, transport will be provided to and from the hotels.
Whether a novice or seasoned veteran, the 1.94-mile International Motorcycle Circuit is challenging and technical with its combination of the long straights, left-hand corners, tight hairpins and chicane.
Riders will receive a full safety briefing from Steve, which covers everything they need to know from track rules, bike preparation, riding techniques, familiarisation laps and circuit information. The day will run from 9am to 5pm.
The track day will be split into three groups - novice, intermediate and advanced - with riders enjoying three 20 minute sessions in the morning before evaluating and reviewing techniques over lunch with Steve and the instructors.
A further three 20 minute sessions will be held in the afternoon. At the end of the event there will be a full debrief and rider presentation, where all participants will receive a small memento to take home along with on track photograph opportunities with all the motorbike racing legends.
Offering great value, The Steve Parrish Rockingham Bike Experience costs just £249, which includes dinner, breakfast and lunch. One-to-one tuition is available for an additional cost, along with tyre changing service and access to Rockingham’s onsite fuel station.
Steve said: “The aim of this event is to create a unique experience which cannot be found at any other circuit. Rockingham is a challenging and technical track, and a favourite among the extended motorbike family.
It will be a great fun event catering for the discerning rider wishing to hone their riding skills, with lots of light-hearted banter mixed in with some interesting anecdotes from the world of motorbike racing as well as the enjoyment of riding a fantastic circuit.”
Further experiences will be held on Friday, August 2 and Monday, October 7. For more information contact Rockingham Track Day organiser Will Thomas on 01536 270143. Alternatively places can be booked online at www.rockingham.co.uk.
