Pere Riba (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) was the top Kawasaki qualifier at a hot and humid Brands Hatch, scoring 11th place on the grid with a 1’29.124 lap. Fabien Foret (Gil Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R), currently second in the championship fight, finished 12th fastest and will thus join Riba on the third row of the grid. Qualifying in WSS was a close contest as usual, with the top 12 riders finishing within 0.789 seconds of pole.
Consistently warm and dry conditions did not help either rider too much, as Riba continued to experience a lack of confidence in his front end, and Foret ran into a series of set-up niggles that held back his final push to try and get on the front row.
Pere Riba:
“Today was hard. I like this track, I have always gone well here, but yesterday I fell at the slow hairpin. Like at Brno, I could not find the feeling with the front and that hurts my riding style a lot. We tried a different rear tyre towards the end and it was better, so I managed to do a 1’29.1, like Fabien. It has not been easy for us recently, and I hope I can make up some points on raceday.”
Fabien Foret: “We had some problems with the shifter in the final session and with the rear grip and that held us back a bit. I am a little disappointed for today but tomorrow I will do my best and we will see what happens. I like the track so I hope it works out for us.”
