Heavy rain put paid to the season opener for the British Masters Motocross series at Culham in Oxfordshire this past weekend. The weekend's weather steadily worsened throughout Saturday, and when it became clear during the Pro 125 class qualifier late afternoon that the weather would not improve any further, the second session for the Pro Open class was called off. Further heavy rains throughout the night forced the promoter to call off the Sunday's racing.

However, the qualifying times of the Pro 125 class could be seen as a good sign as ARB Tuning Kawasaki's veterans Mark Jones and Jamie Lewis qualified at the top of the class; Mark achieving pole position, and Jamie qualifying in eleventh. The team's junior member, Vytautas Bucas, also qualified for the Pro 125 race in thirty-fourth.

Team owner Mark Bishop was philosophical about the situation: "We're wet and we're having to be towed out. The boys qualified well even with the weather, Mark on pole and Jamie in eleventh, so it could've been a great race for the team. But what are you to do when the rains we had overnight ruined the track completely?"

The team looks forward to the second round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship at Canada Heights in Kent on Easter Sunday, with the hopes that the weather will be much improved.
