Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra rider Xavier Simeon finished the first day of qualifying at Brno with the second fastest time, but will be going all out for pole position tomorrow. The young Belgian was fastest in the morning untimed session, but a damp track in the afternoon made most of the riders cautious. Local rider Ondrej Jezek (Kawasaki) used his knowledge to master the variable conditions to take provisional pole with a time of 2:14.150, just two tenths of a second faster then Xavier.
Xavier - 2nd, 2:14.389The morning was more or less perfect and I was easily the quickest. But in the timed qualifying, part of the track was still damp from the rain earlier in the afternoon, so I went very fast on the dry part and took it cautiously in the wet areas. If it’’s dry tomorrow, I feel confident that I can get pole position and that’s what I’ll be aiming for.
