Leon Haslam and Gregorio Lavilla will both be looking to claim valuable points and podium positions when they return to the Cheshire circuit this weekend for the second time this season. When the team visited here in round 4 of the 2006 championship reining BSB Champion, Gregorio Lavilla took a double win. Team mate Leon Haslam had a mixed day of results, coming 3rd in the first race followed by a well fought 7th place having started from the pit lane on his spare bike after stalling prior to the warm up lap.
The Airwaves Ducati team are aiming to improve on their performance at Knockhill last weekend when Haslam achieved two 3rd places and Lavilla came 11th but failed to finish the second race. Both riders, however, are confident that they will achieve good results here having set some of the fastest laps ever seen at Oulton Park on their last visit.
Leon Haslam commented. “We did well here back in April and Greg and I know we can lap fast at this circuit, I was really quick in qualifying and started on pole which is something I would like to repeat again this round but I am focusing on achieving a podium finish and championship points. I struggled a little last weekend at Knockhill and although I am pleased that I secured two podium finishes I hope that I can go a couple better this weekend at Oulton Park.”
Lavilla added, “I had a very disappointing weekend at Knockhill but I will put that behind me and focus on podium places at Oulton Park. I got a double win here earlier in the season and it would be great if we could get those kind of results again but I know I will have to work hard for it now. I am very confident though as we have worked on the bike and I am looking forward to racing this weekend.”
Round 9 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park commences on July 23rd.
