Micron's brand new, Hydroformed GP-style silencer made its debut at the 2006 Yamaha R6 at the motorcycle industries Trade Expo show, at Stoneleigh Park in January of this year. Another world first innovation from Micron, the silencer is a total one-piece item, formed into shape by Micron's high-pressure fluid Hydroforming process that is currently used on the company's Serpent race systems.

The sculptured Moto GP-style outlet silencers, fit directly on the underbody of the under-body of the original item and are made from lightweight satin stainless steel. The bike performance is boostedthrough an overall weight savingof 20%, allied to an increase in engine output. But the Hydroformed silencers also enhance the aesthetics of the technically-advanced Yamaha R6.

The silencers are available initially as race-legal items, comforming to FIM noise regulations and are retailing for just £225.00 including VAT. Micron plans to make a road-legal version very shortly. Micron is the only motorcycle exhaust manufacturer to Hydroform silencers fully and was the first company to introduce Hydroform pipework almost six years ago.
