Two of the biggest names in Italian motorcycling, Ducati and Benelli, are to showcase their brand-new 2008 models at this year’s International Motorcycle and Scooter Show. The news is the most significant announcement for the UK’s biggest motorcycle Show in years and follows the decision to move to the event to later dates in order to avoid a clash with the EICMA Milan show and therefore attract the leading Italian marks back to the NEC. Stylish Italian manufacturer Benelli have chosen to exhibit for the very first time, whilst the Ducati super-brand last appeared at the leading UK show back in 2005.

Today’s announcements mean that the UK’s biggest two-wheeled Show is set to play host to the most phenomenal selection of bikes ever to appear under one roof in the UK when it opens to the public on 23rd November at the Birmingham NEC. Along with Ducati and Benelli, an all-star cast of the world’s leading manufacturers and exhibitors are already confirmed including BMW, Buell, CCM, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Hyosung, Kawasaki, KTM, PGO Scooters, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory Motorcycles, Watsonian Squire, Wuyang and Yamaha. In addition, the growing Vectrix electric scooter brand will also be debuting at this year’s event. Show organisers are now hoping to be able to announce a series of exclusive world and UK bike launches later in the year. This year’s Show will be held on new dates (23rd November – 2nd December) and in new halls at the NEC.

Tim Maccabee, Managing Director of Ducati UK, is delighted with the brand’s return to the NEC:

“We are delighted to be returning to the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the NEC this year. It is an extremely important date in the UK Motorcycle diary and we know from feedback that many visitors to the show consider Ducati to be one of the “must-see” stands. The UK is a crucial market for us and the change of Show dates this year have helped us enormously by avoiding a clash with Milan. We are therefore looking forward to a fantastic show in November – and I promise we will bring plenty of Italian glamour and passion to the Show, not to mention some of the best bikes on the planet.”

Matt Kay of Benelli UK commented:

“Benelli is one of the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturers and as such the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show is an essential date in our diary. We are really excited to be bringing the Benelli brand to the UK’s leading bike Show for the first time and are looking forward to taking our place alongside the biggest names in biking to showcase the fantastic range of Benelli motorcycles.

With such an elite line-up of top manufacturers now confirmed, it’s clear that this year the bikes will take centre stage like never before as the undisputed stars of the Show. Visitors will see the new 2008 models before anyone else in the country as they are unveiled for the first time to the UK market. As ever, the NEC crowds will be invited to get up close and personal to their biking heroes, while taking in the glistening array of new machines.  An all-new Show layout will also see this year’s interactive features take visitors one step further to biker heaven. Brand new activities are set to be announced soon including a Superbike simulator and a Go-Karting track, alongside established Show favourites – Bike Ride Out, Off road riding, Mini-moto and the Thunderdome Games Arena.

Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of MCI Exhibitions, commented on today’s announcements:

“This year’s International Motorcycle and Scooter Show will see ‘the Bike’ take centre-stage like never before. The return of Ducati and the new-arrivals of Benelli and Vectrix are the best-possible news for the NEC Show and cements its position as undisputedly the biggest and best two-wheeled event in the UK – the Show offers British bikers the first  chance to see the most exciting major new models in the UK, all under one roof. There is simply no other place in the UK to go and see so much. With a new location at the NEC and new dates this will be a revitalised Show that I hope proves to be unmissable for anyone who’s into two-wheeled action.”

This year’s Show take place on the new dates of 23rd November – 2nd December, in new halls 1, 2, 3, 3a & 4. Ticket prices have been frozen for a third consecutive year making the Show even better value. For more information visit www.motorcycleshow.co.uk.
