The stars of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship take centre stage at the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at noon on Wednesday 1 November when amid a fast moving audio visual presentation they will re-live the excitement, thrills and spills of the compelling action from the 2006 season.
The champions will then receive their trophies. Ryuichi Kiyonari, who jetted back home to Japan to celebrate his title success, returns to describe in his own inimitable way how he powered his HM Plant Honda to title glory ahead of the Airwaves Ducati duo of Leon Haslam and the 2005 champion Gregorio Lavilla.
Joining them on stage at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, will be Chris Martin, the winner of the British Superbike Cup, and the riders who ran him close in that competition for independent riders and teams.
Cal Crutchlow graduates into Superbike action next year with Rizla Suzuki as the champion, for Northpoint Ekerold Honda, of the British Supersport Championship, while Pete Spalding, who dominated the Supersport Cup, winning all twelve races will not only receive that trophy but also explain his plans for the 2007 season.
Daniel Cooper will be crowned British 125GP Champion while Anthony Rogers will collect the ACU Academy Cup and Tom Grant, the winner of the Virgin Mobile Cup has already tasted the power of the Yamaha R1 Superbike which he will be riding next term, another talking point for the presenters Fred Clarke and Larry Carter to discuss.
Television pundit James Whitham will be adding another dimension to the on-stage interviews, as he joins the stage show, lending a hand, as the presentations continue, with Brendan Roberts taking the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship crown and Bob Collins the Superstock Cup.
The presentations are open to all show goers and give everyone the opportunity to meet their heroes, take pictures, obtain autographs, and hear their various plans for the new season. And for those wanting lasting mementoes of the 2006 Bennetts British Superbike Championship the lavishly illustrated, hard-back official Season Review book, edited by Gary Pinchin, is being launched together with the official DVD of the series and the 2007 calendar.
