The 2006 International Motorcycle and Scooter Show will provide the stage for a host of exclusive UK Bike launches hot from this week’s world launches at the Intermot Show in Cologne. Taking place from Oct 27th to Nov 5th at the Birmingham NEC, visitors to the Show will be able to see all the latest models from the biggest manufacturers before they hit the streets of the UK, including new models from BMW, Honda, Yamaha, Triumph and Harley Davidson amongst others. The show also plays host to the world launch of British manufacturer CCM’s brand new model!
BMW Presenting their widest and most varied model range in the history of the company, BMW will be unveiling its all-new single-cylinder model series including the G 650 Xcountry and G 650 Xchallenge, with purist looks and sporty riding characteristics. Also on show, the fourth model in what has been hailed as its most powerful model series, the K1200 R Sport addresses the ambitious sports riders with a penchant for progressive ‘naked-bike’ technology.
CCMBritish manufacturer CCM, will stage two world exclusives, with the simultaneous launch of their CR40 and SR40 models. The CR40, a retro café racer will be unveiled in at least two different disguises, the naked and un-faired version is sure to delight the purists, whilst the fully faired alternative with its race replica paint scheme is a celebration of their 1981 TT winning machine. Also being launched at the show, the SR40, a Street Scrambler influenced by the highly acclaimed CCM motocross bikes of the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Harley-DavidsonStraight from the world launch at the Intermot fair in Cologne, Harley-Davidson will be bringing the XR 1200 Prototype to wow the crowds at NEC. The XR 1200 has been developed beyond the concept and design stages, with an emphasis on performance, handling and sporting style. The bike, inspired by the legendary Harley-Davidson XR 750 dirt track race bike boasts an air-cooled V-Twin engine, downdraft fuel injection and unique lightweight cast wheels.
HondaHitting big this year, Honda will showcase five impressive new models, including the all new light weight supersports champ, the CBR600RR which has shed a massive 8kg. Set to turn the Performance Naked class on its head, the new 2007 CB600F Hornet is totally new and totally geared towards an electrifying jolt of riding excitement. And finally, the SH300i, which provides exhilarating power, acceleration and handling while maintaining sleek and minimalist good looks.
KawasakiFollowing a busy week at Intermot, Kawasaki will be showcasing the brand new 1400 GTR fronting an entirely new genre of high-performance motorcycles: ‘Transcontinental Supersport’. Next up, the brand new Kawasaki VN900 Custom, a factory built custom bike that delivers big-bike style response and superior acceleration followed by the Kawasaki Versys, a machine that can cope with anything from city streets to mountain passes and everything in between.
Suzuki Suzuki is pleased to announce no less than five UK model debuts at this years Show. Set to be one of the highlights, the already iconic B-King moves from concept to reality with the final production ready 1300cc bike on show in all its glory. Joining the B-King in its UK debut will be the all-new GSX-R1000, boasting increased performance, agility and speed. And there’s something for scooter fans at this year’s show with the all-new Burgman 125, recently launched in Paris, the new 125 offers chic, stylish looks with enhanced storage, security and practicality.
Triumph On show at the Triumph stand is the brand new Tiger 1050. This multi-functional machine is as much at home on the twisties as it is two-up touring. Available in December it’s powered by the same 1050cc, fuel-injected triple engine as the iconic Speed Triple and has an all-new frame and swingarm, USD forks, radial brakes, lower seat height and weight saving of 17 kg. Triumph will also be showcasing a host of updates and new colour schemes across the 2007 range.
YamahaThe all-new YZF-R1 headlines Yamaha’s 2007 range, which includes the new XVS1300A Cruiser, alloy framed WR machines plus revamped Fazer and XJR models. The 189bhp, fifth generation R1 features technology taken straight off Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP machine, including a variable intake system, fly-by-wire throttle, slipper clutch and multi-adjustable suspension.
Tickets for the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show are now on sale and the public can take advantage of the fantastic advance prices for both adult (£13) and family tickets (£30). All other tickets are also available in advance either by booking online at the link provided below or over the phone on 0870 352 2006. Standard ticket prices are £15 for adults, £13 for students, £5 for senior citizens and children between eleven and sixteen, and £35 for a family ticket. Children under the age of eleven are admitted for free.
