Globebusters Go To Morocco And The Atlantic Coast
GlobeBusters’ biggest ever trip ‘Discover Our Earth’ is a 40,000-mile overland odyssey which will take 248 days to ride. The riders have recently finished the first four-week leg of the tour. Section One ran from the snow-capped Alps through France and Spain on to the vast expanses Western Sahara, following the coast down towards Dakar, once the end point of the legendary Paris-Dakar race, before turning back north and riding on to Morocco.
The ‘Discover our Earth’ expedition, being led by Guinness World Record holder Kevin Sanders, set off from Austria. Kevin Sanders said:
“We’ve spent the last 18 months planning the trip and pride ourselves on organisation. The trip encompasses five continents, some of the world’s best roads and a host of World Heritage sites.
The ride in Morocco and the Western Sahara has been a huge highlight for the riders, it’s something truly special. Some truly memorable moments included visiting Ait Ben Haddou, the days spent wandering the medieval medinas in Fes and Marrakech and riding down the Atlantic Coast with the bright blue ocean by our side.”
While Kevin and the riders are travelling to Argentina for the next stage of the expedition, Julia Sanders, co-owner of GlobeBusters, is helping BMW Tours to run a motorcycle trip to Morocco which promises much of the excitement of the first leg of the Discover Our Earth tour in a much shorter timescale – and in slightly more luxury.
This 2,900-mile BMW Tour runs from 17 April to 03 May. The trip, which starts and ends in the UK, isn’t short on luxury. Riders will stay overnight in welcoming Spanish paradors along beautiful roads in the Andalucian Mountains, the tour will cross into Morocco and discover the delights of Africa. Riders on the tour will get to see the medieval city of Fes, ride the breathtaking roads of the Atlas Mountains and, if they would like, even try their hand at some off-road riding in the Sahara.
Richard Harvey of BMW Tours said:
“BMW Tours has years of experience organising motorcycle riding trips around the world, and Morocco has always been a favourite of our customers. There are many must-visit destinations which every tour must see, but to keep the trip fresh this year we are including some fantastic new routes and stops.
We’re paying particular attention to the Atlantic Coast and the Atlas Mountain, with riding roads so good that they’re up there with the best in the world. From mountain passes with endless hairpins, to sweeping coastal roads with the deep blue ocean to your side, it is all in the itinerary for this fantastic tour.”
Places are available on the BMW Tours Morocco and the Atlantic Coast trip in April 2011, priced at £1,799 for solo riders and £2,999 for couples.
