The ISILON MSS Discovery Kawasaki team is looking forward to this Bank Holiday weekend’s action at the glorious Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire. Both Michael Rutter and Stuart Easton enjoy the circuit and they’re looking to make more progress aboard their Kawasaki machines. In the Bennetts British Superbike championship a new engine with a bit more horsepower should hopefully help Michael finish further up the top ten, while in the MAXXIS British Supersport series a new approach to qualifying should see former champ Easton nearer to the front-runners come Monday’s race.
Michael Rutter, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R “We’re hopeful of more power with this new engine, which will help us. That’s probably been the only issue we’ve had with what is effectively a brand-new bike and with a team making its debut in Superbikes. I love Oulton Park and can’t wait to get out there tomorrow. As far as results go you never know until you get out there for the first session, as every track is new to the bike. I’m hopeful though that with the improvements and some luck we can get into around 7th or 8th positions in the two races.”
Stuart Easton, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R “At Silverstone we had a crash and some problems, but we were almost as fast as the guys on the podium during the race, so I’m quite excited by what we could do at Oulton Park. I love the circuit, it’s a real riders’ track and is so flowing I’m really looking forward to the first practice tomorrow. With the changes we’ve made to how we work in qualifying I’m confident that it’s time to get a really good result.”
Nick Morgan, Team owner “Following from Silverstone we’re going to concentrate on giving Stuart the information and support he needs to be on it from day one, so we’re not climbing mountains come race day. We know he’s got the pace, but we want him to be further up the order in qualifying. With Michael, we have a new engine, which is an amalgamation of various specs of motor we’ve tried before. This one is a full monty 200bhp, but with useability, which is crucial.”
Stuart Simmonds, joint team owner “We’re looking for rostrum positions now from Stuart and to do that we need to be nearer to the top guys in qualifying. With Michael a few more results well inside the top 10 would be perfect. It’s going to be a great weekend’s racing.”
