MV Agusta returned to the Isle of Man in style, following a 35-year absence, as Martin Finnegan powered the Alpha Boilers’ 1000cc MV F4 to an impressive fourth place in the Pokerstars Superstock TT Race. In a race that was contested at a blistering pace - Bruce Anstey on the Suzuki shattered the lap record from a standing start and went quicker still on the second lap - only his Suzuki and Hondas of McGuinness and Hutchinson crossed the line ahead of the MV. Finnegan finished over a minute ahead of the fastest Yamaha, and nearly 7 minutes in front of the only other Italian motorcycle, an Aprilia.
The last person to race for MV Agusta in the TT was the legendary Giacomo Agostini, who rode in just 16 TT races between 1965-1972 but won ten, retired just three times and finished in the top three on the other occasions, (all on MV Agustas).
MV Agusta are also competing in both FIM and British Superstock Championships this year and Carl Fogarty plans to enter a team into World Superbikes next year.
