Driving a Formula Brands race car at Brands Hatch or Oulton Park is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First, you should make sure you're fully prepared for the experience. Paying attention in the briefing is vital, you don't want to be black flagged for bad behaviour after all, and you'll want to make sure you've taken all the right precautions. Crash helmet and race overalls are provided for your safety and your pleasure.

Once settled into the snug cockpit and familiar with her controls, you should start slowly and give yourself plenty of time to get a feel for her finely tuned chassis. She's a racing car after all and like all real racing cars, will respond to just the smallest inputs. She'll need some revs to get her moving, but once her engine's fully warmed up, then you can really start to build your momentum.

Once you're out of the pits i'ts important not to get carried away too soon. Relish the moment. You're in a Formula 1-style racer, at one of the UK's most exhilarating motorsport venues. This is where champions have been crowned and heroes have been born. Now put your foot down and give her a damn good thrashing!

Don't forget to stick to the right lines though. Any lack of concentration or sudden unexpected movements can result in a sudden loss of control. Keep it smooth and focused and she'll reward you with the ride of your life.

Afterwards, you'll be awarded with a score sheet from a team of experienced instructors who'll have been keeping a watchful eye on your skills. Like all good love affairs though, once you've experienced the best, you'll be itching to come back for more.

Why not suggest to your partner that they fuel your real passion this Valentine's Day, with a driving experience gift voucher at Brands Hatch or Oulton Park. Call 0870 850 5015 or log on to www.motorsportvision.co.uk/valentine2007.
