The qualifying session held today at Motegi marks the end of a difficult day for Makoto Tamada unable to find the same feeling of yesterday with his Honda RC211V. The Konica Minolta Honda Team racer covered a total of 47 laps clocking his fastest time this afternoon in 1’48.426” placing him 18th in tomorrow’s Japanese GP grid.
Gianluca Montiron – konica minolta Honda General Director “Today we saw the worst qualifying session of the season. We did not get the best out of our Michelin qualifying tyres. Makoto turned about one second and three tenths slower than in 2005 qualifying practice session which placed him fourth. We are still living a bad moment, we can not make the best use of our potential. Any how, I must thank all our team members; they keep working with high professionalism every day. For this, I hope Tamada could have a good reaction and overturn the situation starting from tomorrow morning. The home atmosphere should have a positive influence on him.”
Makoto Tamada – Konica Minolta Honda Rider (18° - 1'48.426")“Today was not my day. Since this morning I did not have the necessary rear grip feeling. I am really disappointed because I wanted to have a good performance here. Today afternoon temperature was lower than forecasted and this probably had a negative effect. Now, I need to speak with my technicians to understand if and how to intervene on tomorrow morning set up.”
