Further to the about the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, 'threatening' motorbike protestors, Caroline Pidgeon - the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Transport Spokesperson and Vice Chair of the London Assembly Transport Committee - asked the Mayor two important questions:
Motorcycles (1) (answered 24th May) Question No: 1587 / 2010
Caroline Pidgeon
"What do you personally think about Westminster Council’s parking charges for motorcycles?"
Answer from the Mayor
"My particular concern is about central London traffic congestion arising from recent demonstrations by motorcyclists congregating at Trafalgar Square. I would like to see the dispute resolved through common ground being found between WCC and motorcyclists around the operation of parking schemes in Westminster."
Motorcycles (2) Question No: 1588 / 2010
Caroline Pidgeon
"I believe the TfL trial of motorcycles in bus lanes will be finishing in June/July of this year.
a) When will the report on the trial be published?
b) When will you make your decision on whether to keep motorbikes in bus lanes or not?"
Answer from the Mayor
"The trial for allowing motorcycles to use bus lanes on the Transport for London Road Network is due to finish on 5 July 2010. The decision on whether or not to make this provision permanent will be made in June and will be based on the findings of the independent report that was commissioned to study the effects of the trial. This report will be published at the same time."
