Two wheeled nostalgia is the theme of the annual Bonhams International Post TT meeting being held at Mallory Park on Sunday 10 June when many of the marques that are synonymous with the racing on the Isle of Man Mountain Course will be put through their paces in either races of parades. There will be a strong Ducati theme to the event which this year’s follows on immediately from the centenary celebrations of the actual TT races, from which a number of people will be returning to take part in the annual classic at the Leicestershire circuit.

The Italian marque is currently captivating the sporting world, with the young Australian rider Casey Stoner, who raced at Mallory Park in British 125cc action earlier in his career, winning three of the opening four rounds of the World MotoGP Championship for Ducati.

The 990cc, 250bhp MotoGP Ducati, raced by Loris Capirossi, will take to the circuit, weather permitting, otherwise it will be on display in the paddock. The bike is the original which was ridden to victory in that year’s Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi by the Italian.

Marco Lucchinelli’s factory 1989 Ducati 888 Superbike, replica number one of only 17 produced will be on track, as will the Ducati 996, ridden by Troy Bayliss, in GSE colours in the 1998 World Championship.   Adding to the exotica is 1993 Ducati Supermono 570cc bike, number eight of a production run of 67, as made to win that year’s World title.

Bringing the machines right up to the minute, the Buildbase team will be showing off their 1098cc Ducatis, as ridden by Kieran Clarke and John Laverty in this season’s Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship.

The event is more that just Ducati, and among the famous machines lining up in the displays will be the Manx Norton that was ridden to race victories in the autumn of his career by the late, legendary Barry Sheene. Another machine raced by the twice World Champion to be on display will be the 1973 TR500 Seeley Monocoque.

The Jack Forbes 1928 Brooklands Villiers 172cc sidevalve will add even more to the historic line up of display machines. The list of machines on display is growing daily and will also include , Tommy Robb’s Seeley G50; the V&M Yamaha ridden to victory by the late David Jefferies in the Production TT; Honda 125s, Aerial Arrow and TZ250 Yamahas.

On track demonstrations will include Ron Chandler a Brands Hatch favourite although no stranger at Mallory  either on his BSA Rocket 3 & Triumph

Building on the highly successful 50th Anniversary Meeting of last year, the circuit will be delighting enthusiasts with a busy racing programme of period motorcycles that features: the 350cc Bonhams Landowne Trophy; the 500cc Bohhams Landowne Trophy; the 350cc Gold Star Championship; the 500cc Gold Star Championship; the Forgotten Era 250-350cc Grand Prix Championship and Early Stocks.

The on-track action, which begin at 09.30, with practice, will include at least two parades; special demonstrations one of which could feature Maserati 250F, a car that proved a big hit at last year’s event; while the racing programme, of at least ten events will begin at 11.00.

Adult admission on day is £17 (£15 in advance); concessions £15; children aged 15 years and under FREE; Paddock transfer FREE; Parking FREE.
