Press Release:
Metzeler and MSVR are pleased to announce the utilisation of the revolutionary new Metzeler Racetec Interact™ as the control tyre of the ultra-competitive 2010 Metzeler Superstock Championships.
Racers in the Metzeler Superstock 600 and 1000 championships, which run alongside the British Superbike Championship class, will benefit from the innovative new tyre which has been developed on-track for a fast warm-up time, increased side grip and low sensitivity to heat cycles, for consistent wear.
The Racetec Interact will be used to keep a level playing field in what many are hailing as the “stock championship of all time” with a full grid featuring top Superbike names such as Steve Plater (HM Plant Honda), Glen Richards and John McGuinness (both Padgetts Honda), Howie Mainwaring (MSS Colchester Kawasaki) with many more yet to confirm plus entries from all the major manufacturers including Aprilia and BMW. Superstock machines must run standard engines and chassis parts with only minor alterations, making them a class that proves the prowess of the original production machines bought in showrooms.
Gianmarco Spigolon, Director of Moto, commented,
“It is very important for us to use the latest spec Metzeler Racetec Interact tyres for Superstock. The class is at a very high level for 2010 with top riders and teams, we believe they and our tyres will combine for consistent, high performance results and hopefully we will smash lap records during the season!”
The Metzeler Racetec Interact range of compounds were launched to press and consumer acclaim last year with testers reporting fast warm up, good heat retention and excellent road holding abilities. Metzeler has worked hard at developing a tyre that has retained durability whilst boasting the very highest level of traction and handling performance thanks to the innovative interaction between the belt carcass and compound.
During the production process, through the use of intelligent tensioning know-how, the 0° steel belt is progressively tightened to ensure an even distribution of pressure. This makes the tyre more stable in all angles of lean, improving handling during braking and cornering, also providing a larger, more confidence inspiring contact patch and ultimately incredible grip.
The new enhanced structural compound and the improved tread pattern design reduces the effect of overheating at full lean and tyre wear. Cold tyre wear is also lessened thanks to the use of new fillers in the tyre compound.
The evolution of this latest Racetec now with Interact™ technology, is available in four compounds: K0, K1, K2 for the racer and track day enthusiast and the K3 for general road use. All are available for normal purchase via your local Metzeler dealer and for more information visit www.metzelermoto.co.uk
