Press Release:Limited edition RX-7 GP to honour Scottish racing legend - Crossan Motorcycles is exclusively offering a limited edition Steve Hislop replica on the rangetopping RX-7 GP motorcycle helmet.
Hislop was a roads and short circuit racing legend with career highlights that include eleven Isle of Man TT victories and winning the British Superbike Championship twice. Then reigning BSB champion, Steve was tragically killed aged 41 on July 30, 2003, whilst flying his helicopter.
Steve began his professional career with Arai and the Japanese helmet adorned many of his finest moments. Hizzy’s trademark pink and blue design-complete with flying haggis-always made the Scot stand out from the pack. After two years of planning, an exact replica of his original design is now available and limited to 750 examples worldwide.
Survived by his two sons and mother, Margaret, the replica Arai is a tribute to him from Crossan Motorcycles and the many Hizzy fans who requested this to be produced. A royalty fee from each helmet sold will go to the Hislop family.
The RX-7 GP is exactly that used by Arai’s MotoGP riders and sponsored racers the world over and is the first helmet to pass both ECE 22-05 and the rigorous new Snell M2010 standard.
The structural net composite (SNC) shell with peripheral belting and enhanced hyper ridge strengthening in the lower section represents Arai’s most advance design to date. Other benefits from the new construction include a larger opening to make the helmet more comfortable when putting it on and a lower centre of gravity helps it sit more naturally to help reduce fatigue.
The quick release visor is now 10mm wider, which massively increases peripheral vision while the switches on the vents are easier to operate whilst wearing gloves. Between the RX-7’s trademark twin diffusers is a five-position air wing, designed to reduce drag, turbulence and buffeting.
