BMW Motorrad is delighted to support the Automotive Technician Accreditation scheme for motorcycles. The scheme, launched today, was piloted by BMW Motorrad in December last year, effectively sets an agreed industry technical standard, of which all BMW technicians, in dealerships throughout the UK, will be assessed. The ATA scheme was originally launched across the BMW car network in 2005, and was so successful that it has now been introduced across the motorcycle franchise.
The original automotive ATA Scheme was backed by the Institute of the Motor Industry and its two-wheeled equivalent is now supported by all the major motorcycling manufacturers.
BMW Motorrad will be assessing technicians within its motorcycling network to achieve accreditation by passing the technician assessments at their national training centre, the BMW Group Academy.
Conrad Parker, BMW Motorrad’s National Aftersales Manager, said: “BMW Motorrad UK is committed to developing the technical expertise of its dealer network and is happy to be recognised as one of the pilot members of this important initiative.”
BMW Motorrad UK hopes to have its complete dealer network represented in the scheme by the end of the year.
BMW has been assessing its motorcycle technical staff in other ways for the last 15 years and welcomes the ATA initiative as a further qualification to engender trust in every dealership’s abilities to service customer machines to a high level.
