Press release:Notwithstanding the precarious physical condition after yesterday's accident with Nicky Hayden, Niccolò Canepa has grit his teeth and made it to conclude his first race at the Sachsenring in twelfth position. The Italian rider didn't start in the best way possible and found himself in last position in the first three laps, but made it to constantly improve and reached and overtook Vermeulen, Talmacsi and his teammate Mika Kallio. The Finnish rider hasn't been so lucky today in the race. Started from the tenth position he made to find himself in eight position thanks to two great overtakes, but after only five laps the front tyre suddenly deteriorate and he had to slow down. From that moment on Mika has done what was possible to remain on his bike and conclude the race. His lap times were around two seconds slower and this made him drop to the fourteenth position. Really unlucky the Pramac Racing rider who will try to do better in seven days on the English circuit at Donington Park.
Fabiano Sterlacchini - Pramac Racing Technical Director:
"For the physical condition Niccolò was in we can consider ourselves satisfied for his result. He didn't start very well, but after a few laps he found a good rhythm that allowed him to conquer a good final position for a first timer on this insidious track. In the other side of the garage there has been a lot of bad luck: Mika started very well, but after only five laps the front tyre has abandon us. We used the same type of tyre during the weekend and we never had any problem. I guess these things can happen in the racing world. Now we will have to analyse the situation with Bridgestone's engineers to understand what happened so that there will not be the same problem next week in Donington."
Niccolò Canepa - Pramac Racing rider - 12th in the race - 16th in MotoGP:
"I had a lot of pain in my left ankle, but I grit my teeth until the end of the race. It has been a positive race for the physical condition I was in. I took too much time to overtake Talmacsi and this made me lose the group of riders in front of me, but with persistence I made it to reach and overtake other riders. For sure my objective isn't the twelfth position, but for the way it went yesterday and considering that this is my first GP here I can be satisfied. I surely have to thanks the mobile clinic doctors that have allowed me race today."
Mika Kallio - Pramac Racing rider - 14th in the race - 15th in MotoGP:
"Everyone has seen which was our potential on this circuit. In every session, including this morning warm up, we remained in the first ten and this was our least objective this afternoon. In the race we have started well, but after only five laps I felt something wasn't working properly in the front part of the bike: the tyre has suddenly deteriorate. I could have easily finished in sixth, seventh position, but bad luck has hit us. I tried all possible to remain with the riders near me, but after ten laps the situation got even worst and from that moment on I could have only tried defend from the riders behind me. I hope that luck will be on our side next Sunday when we will be racing in Donington."
