Press release: In the Sachsen area in the south of Germany during the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland the weather was fine with temperatures above the 30 degrees. After 20 minutes of the session suddenly it started to rain very hard. In the dry first part British rider Danny Webb had a good lap time and end up at the 7th position. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher h! ad also a good dry session and finished 11th.
The session started under very hot circumstances. Before the session started the sky was getting dark and fro sure it would rain during the session. After 20 minutes the rain started and was heavy. The DeGraaf Grand Prix riders stayed in for more than 20 minutes in the pitbox and waiting what the other riders would do in the rain. With 8 minutes on the clock, Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher went out at the track. Danny Webb was also fast! in the rain. Webb rode a 5th time in the wet.
Randy Krummenacher made a good impression in his first run at a dry track and was even fastest. In the second run Krummenacher couldn’t improve his lap time and then the rain started. Still Krummenacher was able to ride to an 11th position which is very good. In the last 8 minutes in the rain Krummenacher couldn’t ride a fast time because he needed more time to get the good feeling in the wet.
Danny Webb (7th, 1:29,967):
“It was strange in that halfway the session the rain came down. I could ride a 7th time before the rain started but I wasn’t pushing at all yet. My injuries are pretty ok after my crash in Assen so that won’t be a problem this weekend. In the rain I was building up the speed and every lap I could ride 2 seconds faster and ended up on a 5th position in the rain. I have a good feeling and the weather forecast for tomorrow is rain again but I think I can be on the second row in qualifying.”
Randy Krummenacher (11th, 1:30,113):
“After the running in laps I had directly a good rhythm. I was even for a while the fastest rider but in my second run in the dry I couldn’t improve my time because I was concentrating on the setting of my Aprilia. It helped that we did the IDM round a couple of weeks ago at this track. We have a pretty ok set-up and I’m confident to do well this weekend. In the rain the time was too sort to get a good lap time. Tomorrow it probably will rain again and I’m not worried. I will go for the first two rows in qualifying."
