Press release:Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing make a welcome return to the British Superbike paddock this weekend at Snetterton in Norfolk after a three week BSB break, although the team were kept very busy away from BSB, at the Isle of Man TT Races at the beginning of June.
Ian Lowry had a day of mixed fortunes during the last BSB round at Thruxton with a tyre problem destroying his hopes of a career best finish in fourth place in race one, but the British Superbike rookie, who currently sits tenth in the series, has enjoyed his short break and is ready to get back to business.
Ian Lowry:
“After my crash at Brands at the start of the season I hadn’t been able to add much cardio work into my fitness programme, but since the break after Thruxton I’ve been flat-out riding my push-bike and putting some big miles in. Only last week I did a local race and finished top six, so I’m fully rejuvenated and ready for action. I’ve had a pretty good start to the year on the GSX–R1000 Superbike, but I want to start pushing towards a podium finish and I know we have the tools for the job.”
Championship leader Alastair Seeley returns to the National Superstock 1000cc class at Snetterton this weekend with his 100% season–record still intact after taking a brace of wins in last weekend’s Irish Superbike Championship at Bishopscourt. The fact that Alastair’s victories came on his trusty 2009 Relentless Suzuki GSX–R1000 ’stock machine, against more powerful Superbikes is very impressive, and the ‘Wee Wizard’ is full of confidence coming into round 4 at Snetterton.
Alastair Seeley:
“I enjoyed a trip to the Isle of Man TT after Thruxton and got to meet the fans; quite a few of them knew who I was but I did also get mistaken for Cameron Donald one day! The Irish races were nice to win for Relentless and Suzuki, again proving the quality of the 2009 GSX–R1000 package, but they were just to keep me sharp for Snetterton where I aim to keep my championship lead intact. We still remain unbeaten in the series and I love the Norfolk track, so I’m quietly confident.”
A refreshed Atsushi Watanabe returns to the BSB series after a few weeks at home in Japan, and Omagh’s BJ Toal comes into the second quarter of the National Superstock campaign with some new goals, after a couple of interim period test sessions.
