Press release:
Rounds 3 & 4 Lydden & Lydd
Lydden Hill & Lydd turned out to be two fantastic meetings which we really enjoyed putting together. The logistics of moving camps caused us one or two minor problems but the whole operation was definitely worth while. Lydden Hill was a fantastic track with lots of riders saying how much they enjoyed the speed of the tarmac and the off road was hailed as the best ever by many riders. A special thank you must go to Danny French who put in all the hard work to create a Supermoto masterpiece. Running at Lydd the following day gave a completely different test to riders with the shorter off road and the tighter track providing a challenge and the usual close racing. The final elite race was a real nail biter with the sudden shower causing riders a real headache in tyre choices and the guys who picked wet front & slick rear coming out on top.
Rounds 5 & 6 Crail
Rounds 5 & 6 see us move to the opposite end of the country to take in the Scottish circuit of Crail. For anybody who hasn’t ridden this track before it is a real worthwhile experience. The Scottish Supermoto club has worked really hard over the last couple of years to put Supermoto back on the map North of the Border and they deserve all our support in continuing to improve the facilities at the circuit. For the 2009 British Championship visit they have further improved the excellent off road sections (there are two) with double berms on the entrance to both areas to give better passing opportunities. Our last meeting was only a single day event but with us having a two day meet we can put in place our original plan when we licensed the circuit last year to run opposite directions over the two days. Crail is located in East Fife close to the historic & beautiful St Andrews, access is great with Motorway & Dual carriageway all the way up to the last 20 miles and as it is located virtually on the beach it makes a great opportunity for a long weekend get away.
Crail Track Day
The Scottish Supermoto club is planning to hold a practice track day at the circuit on the Friday before the meeting from 1pm to 5pm. To register please email jack@scottishsupermoto.com as it will only be run if there is enough interest. The cost is £40 to AMCA licence holders & £55 to non AMCA licence holders.
Sportcity
Planning for this years Sportcity meeting is well underway. The areas we are working on to improve over last years inaugural event are a better, faster and less slippy tarmac section and more pre event publicity to generate bigger crowds. We are hoping for a few special announcements over the next few weeks to further build up the excitement for the biggest event in the British Supermoto calendar.
