McAdoo Kawasaki rider Conor Cummins commented, “It hasn’t sunk in. I grew up watching the TT but I never, in a million years, thought I’d be racing in it let alone getting two podiums in a week. The tyres were spot on, fantastic grip throughout the entire race and I was able to get my head down from the off.
Adrian Archibald was the next highest placed Pirelli shod rider finishing in fourth, a personal best of the week, on his AMA Racing Team Suzuki.
Other Pirelli riders came in strong with Daniel Stewart taking sixth place on his Wilcock Consulting Honda, Michael Rutter brought his Bathams Suzuki home in seventh, John Burrows took eighth spot on his BE Racing Suzuki and British Supersport regular James Hillier took a commendable ninth place with iconic tyre manufacturer Pirelli taking six of the top ten.
Pirelli supported Jenny Tinmouth, went one better in the Senior TT and broke her existing female lap record bumping it up to an incredible 116.83 mph. The young blonde from Ellesmere Port has enjoyed a stunning debut at this years TT and will now return to the British Superbike Championship, where she competes in the British Supersport Championship on Pirelli tyres, a TT heroine.
Pirelli also went in to the history books this morning, as the tyre of choice of the winning electric bike in todays first ever zero emission race at the TT. Winner Rob Barber led the TTXGP race on his Team AGNI X01 bike from the early stages and crossed the line, of the single lap race, in a time of 25m 53.5s, a speed of 87.43mph.
The finish of the Senior TT race brings down the curtain on the two-week TT Festival and Pirelli can leave this action-packed event with head held high, after a great final day's racing at the Isle of Man TT races.
Gianmarco Spigolon, Director Pirelli Moto commented, “It has been an eventful week for Pirelli with the highlight being the fantastic new official Pirelli lap record. Conor Cummins has exceptional natural talent and it was great to see him on the podium yet again, we see him going far in this sport. Pirelli have enjoyed many podiums this week but the top step has eluded us. Maybe things would have been different if things had gone better for the Relentless Suzuki by TAS team? But we understand the challenges that this course brings to man, machine and rubber. This is why Pirelli come here, to test ourselves at the greatest road race in the world. We look forward to returning to improve on our 2009 achievements.”
