Press release: Dan Linfoot gave the Rob Mac racing team some cheer with another fantastic race and a well earned podium position on the NW200 Coca Cola R6 Yamaha. With the sunshine set for the weekend the crowds came in their thousands and as always Thruxton delivered the classic high speed battles they expected.
Dan who is fast becoming the find of the year in the Supersport class continued his 100% podium record. With a four way battle to the flag Dan chased home Phil Plater and Billy McConnell to secure the final step and 16 points added to his 3rd place championship position.
Dan Linfoot NW200 Coca Cola Yamaha 3rd position:
"That was great fun, I would love to have won but it was one of those races where being right in the thick of it was such a buzz and I can't stop smiling! All the bikes were sliding and it was a pretty wild around the back section, slipstreaming played a huge part and rubbing shoulders with the boys at 150mph was a bit scary"
An extremely tough weekend for the Superbike riders in the Motorpoint Hendersons Yamaha team, both Chris Walker and Graeme Gowland struggled to get a good race set up on the new Yamaha R1. Thruxton circuit has never been the luckiest for Chris Walker and this weekend was no different, an electrical problem and a clutch failure put Chris out of both races. Graeme managed to finish within the points but with major grip problems it was a very cautious ride. The broken collarbone suffered three weeks ago took a pounding with the nature of this fast and bumpy track, bringing the bike home safe was the priority.
Chris Walker Motorpoint Hendersons Yamaha DNF race 1 and 2:
"Lets hope that's my bogey weekend out of the way, I have never had the best luck at Thruxton but this weekend was a joke! We struggled for a set up for qualifying but I knew I'd battle for a result on race day, to leave here without even having a go is really hard to take. People know I am a fighter and we will work hard to make up for this disappointment"
Graeme Gowland Motorpoint Hendersons Yamaha 12th race 1 and 13th race 2:
"That was the hardest I have ever worked for a result like that, I have only ridden here once and that was on a 600cc road bike! We did not get a setting that could cope with the bumps and lack of grip around this track, pretty frustrating as I am getting fitter now and want to step up. A couple of weekends off will help me and the team have time to work on the bike"
Rob Mac team principal:
"Dan Linfoot is proving to be a real special young guy, his commitment and attitude for someone so young is a breath of fresh air. He has yet to top the results sheets but with three podiums from three race finishes it is only a matter of time before he gets his win for the NW200 Coca Cola Yamaha team.
The Motorpoint Hendersons Yamaha duo Chris and Graeme had a very frustrating weekend, my team struggled to work out a setting that gave our riders confidence. Thruxton is the fastest and bumpiest circuit on tour, a good stable bike is crucial and we could not give that to our riders. We will get back to the workshops and plan our tests before Snetterton, we have to step up for the rest of the season"
