BMW’s iconic Streetguard Suit has gained legendary status for one obvious reason: it fulfils every motorcycling purpose desirable. With the arrival of the new Streetguard 3, one can be sure that whether faced with sub zero temperatures or the scorching heat of a summer’s day, this little number will keep your mind on the road.
From Streetguard 2 to Streetguard 3, BMW has made significant progress and has adapted the suit to encompass more sophisticated technology, style and comfort.
Radical technological changes made to the new Streetguard 3 include:
• ‘c-change’ membrane
• Coldblack finish
• Keproshield and Dynatec technology
The use of the new c-change membrane cleverly adapts its pore sizes to suit fluctuating body temperatures ensuring that riders remain comfortable. On cold days the polymer compresses its structure for better insulation. Conversely, when the temperature rises to 18°C or above, the polymer structure opens allowing excess body moisture to escape.
Other developments include the use of new award winning Coldblack technology on the outer shell, which reflects 80% of the sun’s UV rays, keeping the textile material cool for longer. The outer shell also comprises Keproshield and Dynatec technology providing 20% extra abrasion resistance over the Streetguard 2 providing added protection in case of a fall.
Additional new features of the suit include a high waistband on the trousers, with fleece inner lining for extra insulation, and a waterproof radiation-shielded pocket for a mobile phone.
As for safety, maximum impact-absorbing armour can be found on the elbows, knees, back, shoulders and hips of the suit. To ensure you’re seen from all angles, reflective fabrics on the front and back of the jacket as well as down the sides of the trouser legs will keep you in full view!
The design of this suit supersedes that of its predecessor. BMW have thought of everything from style to comfort to design – the suit has a simple zip down the front of the jacket and a waterproof removable storm collar in addition to being 100% waterproof. Furthermore, ventilation in the upper arms can be adjusted to allow air to flow through the jacket, depending on the level of airing you require!
BMW’s Streetguard 3 suit is priced at £925.00 including VAT. It is available in pure black as a trouser/jacket combination while the jacket also comes in black, grey and orange. BMW Rider Equipment come in a range of sizes from extra small to extra large.
