Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha are ready for the Scottish challenge of Knockhill this weekend for the eighth round of the British Superbike Championship. Lead rider, “Rock on” Tommy Hill is feeling confident after his first podium of the season at Snetterton a month ago. Finishing in third place behind Kiyonari and Haslam, Hill is keen to get back out on the track: “I was riding really well at Snetterton and I was third fastest in the official test at Croft last week so I am hopeful that I can be strong at Knockhill.”

Tommy’s team mates Billy McConnell and Kieran Clarke are also looking forward to the weekend. Current Virgin Mobile Cup champion McConnell: “Knockhill is one of those tracks you either love or hate, it seems to have its own weather climate! I know last year it was baking hot, it looks good for this weekend too. Last year, in the Virgin Mobile Cup, I had never been to Knockhill before and I got pole position but then I highsided in the race. It would be good to repeat the pole position this year! I am looking for a top ten finish, but you never know in this game! I am determined to pull something out of the bag for the Scottish crowd!”

21 year old, Nottinghamshire based Kieran Clarke said: “I went ninth fastest at Croft and I had my best set of results so far this season at Snetterton. It seems ages since we raced last and I am looking to keep going well at Knockhill.”

Team Manager Rob McElnea said: “The weather forecast is good for Sunday so it should be a good weekend of racing. Knockhill is such a physical track so it will suit my riders and our bikes. Billy will have a shock when he goes round on a Superbike for the first time, but he learns fast and he is ready to surprise a few people.”

Superbike racing starts at 1300 on Sunday 16th July at Knockhill, Fife in Scotland. The racing will be broadcast on ITV1 at 1500 and on Sky Sports 2 at 2100.
