The second day of this week’s official test at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain has come to an end for Team San Carlo Honda Gresini, the final track meeting of the year before the winter break.

The team enjoyed good weather with a fruitful day’s work: sun, no wind, 15 degree ambient and 23 degree asphalt temperature.

Both team riders took to the track in the afternoon to continue work on making adjustments to the 2008-specification Honda RC212V.

Toni Elias (4th fastest – 1:40.448 – 56 laps)

“Today we have been able to carry out some good work and at the end of the day we found the right compromise which allowed me to ride well and to extract more from the performance of my Honda RC212V. We focused our efforts on the geometry of the bike and on the suspension in order to adapt ourselves to the new single tyre rule. Right at the end of the day we found the best set-up and for this I want to thank all the guys in the San Carlo Honda Gresini team who immediately allowed me to be up there with the quickest riders. We have ended the year in a very positive way and now I wait for next season with the determination to do well.”

Alex De Angelis (5th fastest – 1:40.486 – 49 laps)

“Today we planned our work to look at trying different set-up solutions for the bike that gave me a better understanding for the behaviour of the Honda RC212V. Each time that I went on track I improved my performance and this is very positive. I must say that we found a good compromise with the hard spe cification tyre in race trim, having more grip and less spinning at the rear. I have worked well with the team over these last two days and I can honestly say that I am satisfied with this last test of the year. I look to the future with confidence. For sure it has been a crucial learning experience for me in my first year in MotoGP and working again with the same team will definitely be an advantage.”

Fausto Gresini – Team Manager

“I would like to thank all the guys in Team San Carlo Honda Gresini and the riders for the excellent work carried out in these last test days. I am satisifed with the methodology of the work conducted and I am pleased with the results that we have obtained. We have raised our game decidedly and I look to next season with a lot of optimism. I have found both riders to be extremely motivated and with a great desire to compete. Ultimately this is the most positive thing that we take away from this test. Thanks guys! Now we have the long winter break, so we say ‘arrivederci’ to this year and happy holidays to everybody.”
