As winter approaches, scooter riders could be excused for feeling smug over being snug with the latest leg covers from Piaggio.

Very popular in mainland Europe, the leg covers enable ordinary clothes and shoes to be worn while still remaining warm and dry.

For the latest classically styled Vespa, the GTS 300, there is the Magno cover. This waterproof leg cover is made from a strong polyamide and polyester material with a fleece lining, providing protection from the wind and rain while on the move. It attaches easily and quickly to the leg-shields using Vespa’s innovative magnet fastening system. Priced at £64.99 there is even a free replacement service if stolen within the first year, so Vespa really have got owners covered.

Maxi scooters, like the XEVO 125 and 400cc models, are also catered for with a waterproof leg cover that attaches to the leg shields with screws. It retails for £59.99.

Piaggio offer a novel twist on the leg cover for riders of the funky and increasingly popular MP3 range of three-wheeled scooters. The waterproof leg cover is easy to fit using snap-on clips that attach it to the bodywork. However, when owners need to turn up the heat, there is an option to plug into a separate power source to keep things cosy.

This system consists of a separate 12-volt battery and power feeder, which attaches to the leg cover to provide extra warmth for a period of 2½ hours - certainly enough for most commuting trips. With a one year warranty against theft included in the price the cover sells for £99.99 and the battery pack is an extra £69.99.

Available from Piaggio dealers nationwide or call 0117 972 5552 for more information.
