Rizla Suzuki British Superbike rider, Tom Sykes, may be no stranger to completing race tests on his GSX-R1000 Superbike, but underwent a special kind last month, as he successfully completed his direct access motorcycle test with Crescent Suzuki's in-house training scheme.

Hudddersfield based Sykes, took the trip down to Crescent's base in Verwood, Dorset, hooking up with affiliated trainer Maverick Training at Blamford Camp, completing his CBT before going on to pass his direct access test over the four-day intensive course.

Normally used to travelling at speeds of up to 180mph on track with his Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000, Tom quickly settled into road legal speeds, learning of the similar levels of concentration needed to ride on the road safely.

Upon completion of the course, Sykes said, "Many thanks to Mike at Maverick Training. He really looked after me and offered some proper training, giving me the confidence to ride on the road safely. It's a very different discipline to what I'm used to, but I really enjoyed it."

Maverick Motorcycle Training is a Suzuki approved training partner. Find out more about Suzuki's training scheme and affiliated trainers by visiting the 'Extra' section of www.suzuki-gb.co.uk

I heard it wasn't his first examination :) Well done though Tom, I bet it was hard to keep it under 30mph and on two wheels.
