Local hero Tomoyoshi Koyama from Team ISPA KTM Aran was best KTM rider in the 125 cc category and celebrated eleventh place with a huge burn-out in front of his home crowd.

It was one of the diminutive Japanese rider's best results for the 2008 season.

Meanwhile German Red Bull KTM rookie Jonas Folger rode much faster than in practice and was close to the point rankings throughout the race, despite suffering from a stomach upset. Riding in the slot reserved for Randy Krummenacher, who is taking a two-race sabbatical to recover health and form, Folger, just 15-years old, was very close to securing his second championship point and put in another impressive ride. He overtook ISPA KTM Aran rider Lorenzo Zanetti on the last lap, and ended the race in a strong sixteenth place. Repsol KTM rider Marc Marquez, who had been the second fastest of KTM's seven rider line-up in this category in practice, was a bit too fast going into the first turn and crashed. Teammate in the Repsol KTM 250 cc line-up Esteve Rabat also came unstuck in the opening lap.

Jonas Folger (Red Bull KTM 125 - sixteenth):

"I am very happy with the result, considering that I started from thirty first position on the grid. I gained lots of places on the opening laps and I couldn't believe how many of the other guys were behind me! It was great fun to fight in my group of riders, and I had lots of opportunities to battle, to overtake and to learn from the others. The scariest moment for me was when Zanetti hit me from behind and I almost crashed. But in the end, I had more speed coming out of the last turn and caught him again!"
